Yik Mun – The Famous Tanjung Malim Pau
Yik Mun – The Famous Tanjung Malim Pau (steamed buns) has been around since 1926. The paus come in four flavours. Two sweet, and two savoury. The sweet ones are kaya (coconut jam) and tausa (red bean paste), whereas the savoury ones are spicy minced chicken and beef.
Both the savoury steamed buns look alike. Pictures of paus in orders are: (1) the minced beef pau, (2) the tausa (red bean paste) pau and (3) the kaya (coconut jam) pau.
Aside from distributing frozen halal paus nationwide, Yik Mun also runs a halal food restaurant in Tanjung Malim, not too far away from UPSI, the teacher training university.
The Hainanese chicken chop was as good as it looks. Flavourful onion and peas gravy on a slab of aromatic chicken.
Mee hailam, drenched in dark soy sauce was a best seller as well. We saw most of the tables ordering this and we couldn't resist.
