The Big Mouth @ USJ9

 Sometime back we checked out The Big Mouth, which is situated opposite Alliance Bank in USJ 9. Their menu selection is somewhat similar with Secret Recipe with a wide variety of cakes and warm desserts. The price of cakes are on par with Secret Recipe too, though I must say that most of the things I ordered from the menu did not disappoint.

The fish and chips were of decent portion, and comes with a light batter and crispy exterior. Definitely a good choice.

The Chicken ala Creation - A customizable chicken dish where you get to pick the part of the chicken you prefer, the cooking style, the sauce and the sides. I chose a chicken thigh in barbecued sauce with a side of mesclun salad and rice. I really like the taste of the chicken, although I find that the presentation - chicken thigh cut into two halves, more difficult to eat in addition to making the chicken meat rather dry as moisture escaped. Also, the portion is on the smaller side.

Carrying on with the chef's style of cutting the meat into two halves, we had a cordon bleu, cut and stacked together, depriving us of the pleasure of cutting in to see the oozy cheese. In this case the chicken was quite dry.

Chicken fusion comes with a really tangy and creamy sauce, which is the main star of the dish.

From the display case we chose a chocolate banana cake - more dense than it was moist, with a strong hint of banana coming from a compacted layer of that fruit sandwiched between the layers of cake. Again, it was rather dry and the overpowering taste of banana is off-putting.

We finished off with a warm chocolate lava cake topped with ice cream. The cake was warm, sweet and rich, despite the humble presentation.
