Restoran Ah Ping Bak Kut Teh

Restoran Ah Ping's dry Bak Kut Teh

Bak kut teh is one best comfort food especially when the weather is rainy. Although Klang is just less than 30 minutes away, sometimes its a drag to drive so far when we are hungry. Thankfully, there are many reliable bak kut teh shops in the Subang area. In fact, there are already a few shops along Jalan SS14/2 to satisfy our cravings. Best of all, many of them serves both the dry and soup variety of bak kut teh, with many sides dishes to choose from, other than the mandatory blanched vegetables served with oyster sauce and garlic oil, and the humble fried crullers.

Restoran Ah Ping's soup Bak Kut Teh

It was our first time in Restoran Ah Ping Bak Kut Teh, located along Jalan SS14/2. We ordered both the dry and soup variety of bak kut teh, with a side of vegetables. The dried and soup bak kut teh were decent. We prefer the soup version better than the dry version, as the bak kut teh soup was very thick and flavourful. The dry bak kut teh, on the other hand, lacks many ingredients that contributes to the robust flavour essential to a claypot of dry bak kut teh. We prefer the dry bak kut teh version from another restaurant, which includes the springy and tangy dried cuttlefish strips, dried chillies, bird eye chillies and sliced ladyfingers.

The vegetables were nicely done and really crunchy. This place caters to the night crowd. Business seems to be in full swing when left at around 10.00pm. We felt quite thirsty after the meal though.
