Jonker Street Lao Qian Ice Cafe

Lao Qian Ice Cafe, situated at the end of Jonker Street, is a specialty souvenir and cafe featuring local snacks and desserts. The cafe is located in a quaint two-storey pre colonial Dutch building. The interior of the cafe boasts an impressive Nyonya and Peranakan style, a blast from the past.

Tired tourists can seek for comfort in this air conditioned building while quenching their thirst with a wide array of coffees and desserts offered.

The coffee we ordered came in a mason jar with an inch of ice cube at the bottom. The coffee was not bad.

The prepackaged durian cendol comes in a cute durian packaging.

The fillings among the shaved ice.

A pandan (screwpine) flavoured fish shaped kueh which made assembly style, outside the cafe. The whole process take place outside the cafe, and visitors are free to watch.

A wide array of snacks sold in attractive packaging to bring back as souvenirs.
